Great Rainy Day Activity - It was a rainy day in Cozumel and this was a really nice activity. Paty our tour guide was excellent from start to finish. She held a lot of knowledge about the history of chocolate and made the tour quite interesting. Lots of great samples to taste and love the demonstration of how chocolate is made.

Easy to get to from Carnival ship. Great tour! - This was an excellent tour. We arrived to Cozumel on a Cruise ship. We immediately got off and took a taxi to the Mayan Cacao company. It was a short drive from the Carnival port. The people at the port knew exactly what we’re talking about and said there were two Mayan Cacao companies, but they suggested the one near Playa Maya. The tour was excellent. We did not pre schedule our tour. We arrived right when they opened at 9am and we’re able to purchase tickets for general admission and basically get a private tour because all of the schedule tours were later. We tasted chocolate, watched the tour guide make chocolate, learned the history of the Mayans, more! Highly recommend!

Chocolate! - We got very lucky and arrived between tour busses from the cruise ships. We had a lovely private tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. The history of chocolate and the Mayans was very interesting. We had some tasty homemade salsa and we got to watch the eclipse through a piece of obsidian. The tour ended with tasty chocolate cocktails margaritas and chocolate martinis.

Delicious chocolate! - Eduardo was extremely friendly and engaging. The kids loved the tour and getting to see how chocolate is made, right in front of them! They didn’t mind getting to taste it, either!

Awesome sweet chocolate experience! - Awesome experience! Got to taste the chocolate plus more. Spent way too much money in the gift store, but the chocolate was just too good-we just had to buy some more! We were on a cruise excursion, but I am oh so glad that this was part of the excursion, and we would gladly come back even if we were not on a cruise excursion! This rates a 5 out of 5 easily!

great. best tour guide ever. - My wife and I arrived around 12. We thought we would go with the tour that was just starting, but they were full, we instead got a private tour (we didn't have to pay extra) with Patti. She was an excellent tour guide, funny, knowledgeable and while we are more than intermediate Spanish speakers, she was able to clarify in almost native speaking English. She should get a raise or promotion. :) The chocolate is fantastic and their are rescued macaws that made the journey nicer.
Beware of the police if you are driving or on a motorbike they seem to be looking for tourists and giving tickets.

Great experience! - We loved this tour! Our 15 year old son said he liked this more than snorkeling earlier in the day! Our tour guide, Angel, was funny, personable, and kind. We loved it! And the homemade tortillas were fire. So good. But the chocolate was the. Bomb. Loved getting a small glimpse at Mayan and even Mexican culture for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!!!

History, Demonstration, and Tasting - We went to the Mayan Cacao Company as part of an MSC shore excursion. Our guide gave us the history of cacao, then we sat and watched a demonstration of how it is made. Last we got to taste different samples/flavors of the chocolate in the gift shop. It was available to purchase for $9 a bar.

Not A Factory Tour - It was not a tour of an actual chocolate factory. The first 30 minutes was a view of a few small plants they are trying to grow, and then less than a 10 minute demonstration similar to how Mayans may have made chocolate from cacao. Drinks are additional cost.
