Additional Information

The North Pole’s majestic spectacle, the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis, is a result of the sun’s particles clashing with the high atmosphere. In Iceland, these breathtaking displays are visible during winter, from late August till April, taking on various shapes and colours, with light green and pink being most frequently observed.

Awesome tour! - Sőlvi was amazing! We stayed out on his longest trip of the season so far and it was definitely worth it. His commitment, tenacity, and enthusiasm kept us going to see some really great light activity despite the discouragingly cloudy day.

UNFORGETTABLE! - We were lucky enough to have Solvi as our driver! A passionate Northern Lights enthusiast who will have taken us with him to hunt aurora for 3 hours! Despite the cloudy weather, we were unbelievably lucky and had a wonderful show thanks to Solvi’s spot and his knowledge of the weather and this phenomenon. Almost 30 minutes of an incredible and unforgettable show for a first discovery. I recommend without hesitation.

Not good value for money - We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights on this tour and are grateful to our driver for locating a suitable spot. However, we were expecting a tour guide and some narration alongside our journey but it was literally a very expensive bus ride! Our driver did not communicate what was happening so we were unclear as to what the itinerary of the evening would be. It was great to see the lights but it was disappointing for the price we paid not to have received more than a bus ride and half a cup of warm hot chocolate! We must however mention the extremely helpful and organised office staff who responded clearly and quickly to all our queries before the trip.

Poor value for money, very disappointing - We saw the Northern Lights so of course that was beautiful. But the tour itself was extremely disappointing and very poor value for money. Our tour guide barely spoke throughout the trip - gave a 2 sentence explanation at the beginning of the trip about what causes the northern lights, then literally nothing more for the next 4 hours of the bus ride. He didn’t explain any basics about the trip itinerary either, so we didn’t know at any point what was happening, where we were stopping or why, how long we were getting off the bus for etc. It was a total mystery! So basically we paid a lot of money for an expensive bus ride and half a cup of luke-warm hot chocolate. So disappointing. I wondered if this was ‘standard’ for the tour but I’ve since read reviews for other northern lights trips run by the same tour company saying how knowledgeable and enthusiastic other tour guides were, so it looks like our trip was particularly poor and I certainly wouldn’t recommend. Very frustrating and disappointing. Would like to add that the office staff we had spoken to by phone prior to the trip were very helpful, so that was a positive.
