Great location… dissapointing tour - Colosseum was fantastic. Extremely impressive to see in person. Unfortunately our guided tour was cancelled once we arrived. No notification from your company until we showed up and then informed us we could go in but would be on our own…. Would have been nice to have been given advance notice so we could have found another tour company

Guide was great but way too hot in June for this tour - Our guide was great but it was 100 degrees out and just too hot to be on a 3 hour outdoor tour. We had to tap out early because we were feeling ill from the heat. Definitely would recommend doing this in cooler months.

Bad experience with booking of Guided tour of Colosseum - We booked this non-cancellable trip some months ago. But our guide did not show up cancelling last minute. We have asked Viator to do partial refund our money and still no response from Viator. Being a large company like Viator and their vendors, they must need to have alternate guides available to take care of the customers. For us it was a waste of time and left sour taste in our mouth. We were looking forward to our dream visit to Colosseum with a guided tour. Never the less, we learnt a lesson for future. Let us see if Viator will step up to process our refund. Please think twice before booking.

Tour guide never showed up! - The tour guide did not show up and still trying to get refund for the tour that never happened. We were so disappointed, and we couldn’t get another tour during our visit, so bummed!

Got Scammed By Tour Operator, Hopefully There’s No Tour Guide Strike When You Go - Giving this a 1 star only because viator doesn’t allow 0 stars. We show up to our 9:00 your & were told there was a “tour guide strike” & that we could still use the tickets to get into the Colosseum & the Palatine Hill if we wanted still & get a partial refund or not go in & get a full refund. We chose to go in & get the partial refund. Got into the Colosseum fine. We go to scan our ticket at the Palatine Hill entrance & somehow our tickets that were in our name had somehow already been scanned & we could not get into a part of the tour that we had paid for. When we told the people scanning tickets what the tour operator told us, they laughed & said we got scammed & there was no tour guide strike. Also 3 weeks later, we still haven’t received that refund. Our tour was on June 8th & a lot of the reviews from June of 2024 somehow have the same theme as our tour: told there was no guides & would get partial refund, still waiting on refund. I tried to work with viator to get a refund & there often zero help as well. Apparently they only believe your companies that scam their customers instead of actually believing their customers. Definitely won’t be using the your operator again: city wonders. And also won’t be booking anything through viator again because if anything goes wrong they won’t believe me.

Guide no show - Th guide did not show up. We were promised a refund. So far none We used the tickets reserved but were promised the difference. That did not happen

Refund my money - When the tour operator told us they had no guide and couldn’t put us in another group. We took our 4 grandchildren to Rome and have them disappointed. I have already responded to viator re the tour operator said Viator would refund my money. No response of any kind after three days.

Don’t book if City Wonders is the tour provider - City Wonders ruined our day! We had a single day for our group to take this tour. I booked this tour over 2 months ago. Viator sent me my confirmation and digital tickets for our 3pm tour. The instructions gave a meeting time of 2:45. Our group of 4 arrived at 2:35 to be told by Salvatore of City Wonders that our tour time was changed to 2:30 and we missed our tour! I was NEVER notified of this change. If we had been notified we could have been there earlier, we had been enjoying the area knowing we were already arriving earlier than needed. Salvatore went on to claim he didn’t know which company had made the change but we were out of luck, there weren’t any other tours we could join on our scheduled day. I immediately contacted Viator via the chat and they were unaware of the change. Salvatore then said oops, guess it was City Wonders that made the change without telling me. It appeared that another couple was getting the same story as us. Salvatore was useless, it was a “too bad you missed your tour that you paid more than $300 for” attitude. He said we could take the paper tickets he had for us with the earlier time and rush to the entrance on our own and walk through the colosseum. He said we could purchase an audio guide so we could learn about the site but that’s the best we could get since we “missed” our guided tour. Viator said so sorry for the inconvenience and they claim to have processed a refund but it could take a week before I see it. Salvatore gave no clear instructions on where we needed to go, only that we had to hurry or our time slot would close. We raced around and finally found the entrance and were able to enter the colosseum. We asked about an audio guide and we were told it’s an app that you need to download but we had no service so we couldn’t get the app. It was a mess! We did walk around the arena but it was not what I wanted. We also didn’t get to enjoy the other venues scheduled for this tour because we didn’t have a guide to get us in with the needed tickets. It was a horrible experience and I made sure that none of the other tours I booked in Rome were managed by City Wonders. They are the worst tour provider!
