Unforgettable Experience at Testaccio Market with Mattia - We had a fantastic time on our Devour tour at Testaccio Market with our guide, Mattia. Exploring this vibrant, off-the-beaten-path neighborhood was a delight, and the market's food vendors were incredible. Mattia knew all of them personally, giving us an authentic and immersive experience. The food was outstanding, with the highlight being some of the best pasta we've ever had! Mattia's passion and knowledge made the tour both fun and informative. If you want a genuine Roman experience with amazing food, this tour is a must!

Best Way to Explore a Neighborhood - Outstanding experience! It’s food, culture and physical activity in one - the perfect mix on vacation. Our guide, Chiara, was both very knowledgeable and very passionate about sharing the foods and traditions of Rome, and of Testaccio in particular. We actually had another very memorable tour with her five years ago in Prati and it was such a delight to reconnect on this trip!

A different tour than usual - We had a nice walk around the Testaccio area of Rome. It is a beautiful experience but also different from the usual boring and monotonous tours. The guided food tour lasts 3.5 hours and is spoken in English but the girl also spoke to us in Italian to make us understand (I have basic English) as interesting as it was we felt like the time flew by. The history of the neighborhood was interesting, we made some stops starting from the Bar with a Maritozzo with cream and coffee. Then going to the market between different stalls to eat different specialties (sandwiches, hams and cheeses, pizzas, fruit, water and wine) while we listened to a bit of their story. I must say that I was very surprised to see the clean and tidy market. After a nice walk we stopped at a historic restaurant and ate pasta, I had the pasta with oxtail and my husband had the vegan version, I must say that they were very good. And last but not least, we ate some delicious ice cream in an ice cream shop. I have to say that I would do an experience like this again.

Delicious and totally authentic experience, eat like a true Roman! - Wow what a fun, interesting and tasty experience!! I took the Testaccio market tour with Fernanda and I really felt like a local on tour! Fernanda was so lovely and fun and she knew all the vendors personally. They too invited us in and made us feel right at home in the market. And the food was amazing!!! We got to try so many things, and things that I would not have tried on my own. That's also something that I loved about this tour, is that you take food for granted sometimes when traveling and you don't know where to eat, but with Devour tours you get to go along with a local and eat authentically. My favorite part was lunch inside a 100 year old restaurant still owned and run by the original family where we got to try an amazingly delicious Roman recipe invented by them that is now a Roman classic!! So impressive that Devour can get their tours into these special places. Grazie mille!!

Testaccio to the Max! - Delightful morning with yummy food, great weather and easy company. Under the expert guidance of Chiara (with helpful assistance from Alex and Lou) we experienced multiple breakfasts including café with exquisite cake, followed by prosciutto and cheese tasting before a wonderful slow cooked beef panini at local market! All food specialities detailed by Chiara. After a short walk with local historical sites again detailed by Chiara it was off to sit down lunch with local owner detailing wine and food. Further historical sites were visited and finally finishing with Gelato - Yum! Excellent and well done Chiara, Alex and Lou.

Come Hungry - We enjoyed this group food tour. Started with coffee and a pastry that was great. Real Italian place. Then we went to the testaccio market which was former slaughterhouse and sampled from 4 different stalls - charcuterie (meats and cheeses), pizzette, fresh fruit and a sandwich. Then we had 3 different pastas at a sit down restaurant which were great and our favorite food items on the tour. Lastly we stopped for gelato. Our guide, whose name I am forgetting in a senior moment, was engaging and informative both about the history and the culture. Come hungry because you will eat quite a bit. I knew it wasn’t included in the tour, but I would have liked to stop at the Protestant cemetery which has such history and where John Keats is buried.
