A Journey Through the Congo Nile Trail

The Congo Nile Trail had been on my radar for quite some time, and the opportunity to explore it finally presented itself. As a wildlife photographer with a penchant for adventure, the promise of scenic views and bird watching was irresistible. The swimming cows, a peculiar yet fascinating sight, added a touch of whimsy to the adventure.

We paused to savor fresh macadamia nuts, a delightful treat that complemented the serene surroundings. Our journey continued to the vibrant city of Gisenyi, where we embarked on a city tour. The bustling streets and lively atmosphere were a stark contrast to the serene landscapes we had just left behind. Darius guided us through the city’s highlights, including a visit to the second busiest border in the world, the petite barriere. The view of the Nyiragongo Volcano, shrouded in clouds, was a magnificent sight, a testament to the raw beauty of the region.

As the day drew to a close, I reflected on the incredible experiences and the connections made along the way.
