As I stepped into Muang Boran, the Ancient City, I felt as though I had been transported back in time. This sprawling outdoor museum in Samut Prakan, just a short drive from Bangkok, is a testament to Thailand’s rich cultural heritage. The creator, Khun Lek Viriyaphant, has meticulously crafted this space to preserve the essence of Thailand’s historical grandeur.

Covering 240 acres, Muang Boran is a vast expanse of history, with replicas of ancient city ruins and historical monuments from various eras, including the Dvaravati, Srivichai, Lopburi, Lanna, Lan Chang, Sukhothai, U-tong, Ayuthaya, Thonburi, and Rattanakosin periods. Each structure tells a story, a piece of the puzzle that is Thailand’s past. As I wandered through the park, I was reminded of the importance of preserving cultural heritage, a theme that resonates deeply with my own work as a cultural consultant.
