- Huemul - Travel along the northern shore of the lake’s Huemul arm, passing Las Flores and Puerto Manzano, with a short stop in the mountain town of Villa La Angostura.
- Villa La Angostura - Stretch your legs and enjoy the fresh mountain air before continuing on the provincial route. (You can buy snacks at several stops along the way or bring your own food.)
- Route of the Seven Lakes - Follow the picturesque Road of the Seven Lakes, taking in the stunning views of lakes Espejo, Correntoso, Escondido, Villarino, Falkner, and Machonico before arriving at the shores of Lácar Lake (Lago Lácar), where the charming town of San Martín de los Andes is nestled between high mountain peaks.
- Mirador Lago Espejo - Lago Espejo is a glacial lake named for its clear, calm waters that reflect the landscape like a mirror. The lake is fed by streams carrying snow and melted ice from nearby mountains. We’ll make a brief stop at this viewpoint to admire the view and take photos.
- Lago Correntoso - This bluish-green lake spans approximately 27 km², framed by a stunning mountain range, and has warmer waters than Nahuel Huapi. We’ll make a brief stop at this viewpoint to admire the view and take photos.
- Mirador Lago Escondido - Lago Escondido is the smallest lake on the route, surrounded by a dense Andean-Patagonian forest, making it hard to spot but rewarding to see. We’ll make a brief stop at this viewpoint to admire the view and take photos.
- Mirador Del Lago Villarino - Protected by Nahuel Huapi National Park, this lake is home to various trout species, attracting many fly fishing enthusiasts. Named after Spanish sailor and explorer Basilio Villarino, who explored the Limay River basin in the 18th century. We’ll make a brief stop at this viewpoint to admire the view and take photos.
- Mirador Lago Falkner - Surrounded by the Falkner, del Buque, and Alto hills, its shores are mostly covered by forests of lengas, coihues, and other beeches. Named in honor of Thomas Falkner, an 18th-century Jesuit missionary priest of English origin. We’ll make a brief stop at this viewpoint to admire the view and take photos.
- Mirador Lago Machónico - Popular for water sports in the summer, tourists can navigate this lake with kayaks and canoes. Machónico means “Place of the Páncora” in the Mapuche language (the “Páncora” is a type of freshwater crab). We’ll make a brief stop at this viewpoint to admire the view and take photos.
- Lake Lacar Waterfront - The city of San Martín de los Andes is situated on the banks of the Lácar River.
- San Martin de los Andes - Spend about three hours at your leisure in San Martín, including time to buy lunch at one of the many restaurants (own expense). Stroll through the streets lined with art and craft shops, surrounded by nature and fresh air. Admire the charming character of San Martín and the Swiss Alpine architectural style of its wooden cabins and quaint shops.
After lunch, we’ll return to San Carlos de Bariloche.
