Great compliment to Monte Alban - We visited Mitla a few days after taking a half day tour to Monte Alban. I debated at first whether or not it was worth dragging our teenagers to another ruin but it was quite different. We'd learned a lot from our first tour so we felt like we had some idea of context. We all enjoyed it and it was a nice compliment to Monte Alban.

Not As Interesting As Other Mexican Sites - Taken in its own right, this would be a very interesting place to visit. Unfortunately if you've already visited other archaeological sites in the province, this one doen't quite compare for variety and quality. There's a fair amount to see, but the site is not huge. There's general one way walk down through the site system in place. You enter at the top gate and leave at the bottom gate, which is where all the souvenir stalls and hawkers are.
