Take this tour! - This tour was amazing! Alfredo Diaz was the best guide. We are so lucky to have met him! It was challenging and rewarding. It’s very windy and chilly at the top- I was glad I had brought my sweater around my waist. 5/5 recommend! Ask for Alfredo If you can!

Very nice excursion, beautiful day - If you take this tour, I hope that there is not too much wind at the top of the volcano that day, because if that is the case, as for us, you will not have the opportunity to climb to the top and see the beautiful lake at the very top, which, let us say, is the main reason why tourists buy this tour. The decision does not come from the guide, of course. If you are lucky, you can take the free excursion again to try it again. Unfortunately, this was not our case. However, I am very satisfied with the great guide we had, David, 22 years old and who, despite his young age, had already climbed this volcano more than 300 times! If you have special requests, such as going down to Lake Coatepeque and swimming there, you can ask your guide and who knows, maybe you will have the chance to go, if you are only 2 (and not with a group). Thank you David for your good service and kindness!

Eduardo!! - Incredible tour. Eduardo was so knowledgeable and honestly I don’t think the tour would have been nearly as beneficial with a different guide. Eduardo was by far the highlight of the tour because you could ask him a simple question and he would give you so much detail and history. Beautiful country with beautiful people. 10/10

Great guide, amazing views, and some exercise - If anything like me, you’ll sweat, you’ll huff and puff and your legs will ache but the effort is well worth it. Amazing views of (but really not from, due to cloud cover) Santa Ana’s milky turquoise crater lake and the surrounding multihued slopes. Hike thru jungle and lava plain, fortunately not straight up but zigzagging with lots of flat stretches on which to catch your breath. My guide Adonis was amazing and encouraging and escorted me on the climb of a lifetime. Follows up all the fun with a delicious lunch on a crater rim above another, much larger lake nearby. Highly recommend !

Tour suitable for everyone with a Top Guide - A beautiful and quiet tour, it is not very demanding to climb the volcano, but it is worth it for the beauty of the landscape, as well as that of the lake. Guide was Christian Rendon, who is top. He has a lot of mountaineering experience and a lot of mountain knowledge. Besides, he tells a lot of things about his country, anything you ask him. It is worth taking the tour with Christian, a 10 for him as Guide.

Long day but beautiful - Omar and Ado were great. So friendly and informative and the tour took us to some great spots. Lunch on the lake was so good and the views were breathtaking. The only recommendation I would have is a separate tour for those from the beach area. It was way too much time traveling and being stuck in traffic due to drop offs in San Salvador. If you’re coming from El Tunco be prepared for a very long day but overall a very nice trip. Thanks again to our wonderful tour guides.

enjoyable and amazing views - We loved this location and the views were amazing and worth the hike. We are avid hikers and had no problem but the description made it sound like most people with no illness can make it. I just want to put an emphasis that it is a difficult hike. Going up is strenuous and coming down (the first part) there are rolling stones on the ground and difficult not to slide. A walking stick would have been helpful. Also we expected to have another activity after lunch as the description said after lunch go to the lake for a water activity and free time. But after lunch our guide was going to take us back. I asked what about the second half of the tour and read the description and he kindly took us to a spot by the lake were I could put my feet in the water for 10 min. we left the lake around 3:20pm and due to severe traffic did not get back to san salvador until 5:45pm. not sure if this would have been a better commute at a later hour. it took us only one hour and 30 min to get there in the morning. Another point to mention is that after we got to the volcano park at around 9:00 am we had to wait 30- 45 min for the park rangers to let us start our hike. So despite having our own guide, they still require a park ranger to accompany the groups during your hike. We would recommend this tour as we really liked our tour guide and enjoyed the beautiful nature in El Salvador, but i would clarify what is included and time -line better next time.
