Capturing Tenerife’s Magic: A Photographic Journey

Tenerife, with its dramatic landscapes and vibrant culture, has always been a place that calls to the adventurer in me. As someone who spends a lot of time riding the waves and exploring the hidden gems of the Caribbean, I was eager to see what this island had to offer from a different perspective. When I heard about the Photography Coaching experience, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to dive into the world of landscape photography.

A Day with Detlow

The day began at Charco El Diablo, a place where the raw beauty of nature is on full display. Meeting Detlow, our guide and photography coach, was like catching up with an old friend. His easy-going nature and passion for photography were infectious. We quickly got into the groove, discussing potential shooting locations and the techniques we would explore.

Detlow’s ability to communicate complex photography concepts in a simple and engaging way was impressive. As we moved through the stunning landscapes, he guided me on how to use my camera in manual mode, emphasizing the importance of lighting and composition. It was a revelation to see how a few adjustments could transform a simple shot into a breathtaking image.

Embracing the Elements

Tenerife’s sun is relentless, and as someone who is no stranger to the sun’s embrace, I was prepared with sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat. Detlow had advised us to bring these essentials, along with extra camera batteries, to ensure we could capture every moment without interruption.

The landscapes we explored were nothing short of magical. From the rugged lava formations to the serene coastal views, each location offered a unique canvas for creativity. Detlow encouraged us to take our time, to be patient, and to wait for the perfect moment when the light and shadows danced in harmony.
