Into the Heart of the Volcano

The moment I set foot in Santiago del Teide, I knew I was in for an adventure unlike any other. The air was crisp, the sky a brilliant blue, and the towering silhouette of Mount Teide loomed in the distance, beckoning me to explore its alien landscapes. As a former extreme sports athlete, I’ve seen my fair share of breathtaking vistas, but the promise of walking through a moonscape beneath towering volcanoes was too enticing to resist.

Our journey began at the Mirador de Samara, where we met our guide, Sergio. A whirlwind of energy and knowledge, Sergio was the perfect companion for this adventure. His passion for the landscape was infectious, and his stories of the flora, fauna, and geology of the area added a rich layer of context to our trek. As we ascended through the Canary pine forest, the path was a tapestry of black ash and green pines, a stark contrast that was both surreal and beautiful.
