Baku & Absheron Peninsula Tour

Highland Park - The tour begins at Highland Park, the highest point in Baku. From the park, guests can enjoy a panoramic view of the city, including major landmarks such as Flame Towers, Parliament Building, State TV Channel Building and Broadcast Tower, Martyrs’ Lane, Crystal Hall, National Flag Square, and more. Guests will walk through Martyrs’ Lane to the “40 Stairs” where the driver will pick them up.

Baku Old City - The tour continues to the Double Gates to start the Old City Walking Tour. From the Double Gates, guests will see the Chain, Sailor and Cat Houses, Bukhara & Multani Caravanserais, Juma Mosque, and Maiden Tower.

Maiden Tower - Guests will visit the Maiden Tower, a former symbol of Baku city. The tower was built in two periods, before and after the century. The first part was constructed in the 6th century BC and used as a temple by fire worshipers. The second part was built in the 12th century by Shirvanshah 2nd Akhsitan. In 2001, along with the Shirvanshahs’ Palace, the Maiden Tower was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List of Historical Monuments.

Multani Caravanserai - Established in the 14th century, this caravanserai is located opposite the Bukhara Caravanserai. It was built to house merchants from the medieval city of Multan (now in Pakistan) who frequented the region for trade. Zoroastrians, who are believed to have erected the Ateshgah Temple in Surakhani, were among these merchants.

Bukhara Caravanserai - Erected in the late 15th century over a trade route passing through the Shamakhi Gates of the fortress, this caravanserai is close to the Maiden Tower. It served as a hotel for merchants from Central Asia.

Palace of the Shirvanshahs - The next destination in the Old City is the Shirvanshahs’ Palace. Inside the complex, guests will visit the Main Building of the Palace, Palace Mosque, Divankhana, the Mausoleum of Seyid Yahya Bakuvi, Family Mausoleum, a Portal in the east, Murad’s gate, a Reservoir, and the remnants of a Bath House. In the 15th century, the Shirvanshah dynasty, under Ibrahim I of Shirvan, moved the capital from Shamakhi to Baku following a devastating earthquake. The palace is believed to be a memorial complex built around the sacred place of worship (pir) and tomb of Seyyid Yaxya Bakuvi, a Helwati Sufi. The Shirvanshahs were patrons of the Helwati Sufi order, and Shirvanshah Khalilullah I was buried with his family in the Family Mausoleum.

Nizami Street - Guests will then visit Fountain Square and the famous Nizami Street, a wide pedestrian and shopping street in the city center named after the renowned classical poet of Azerbaijan, Nizami Ganjavi.

Ateshgah - Fire Temple - The tour continues with the Absheron Peninsula Tour. The guide will explain the mysterious history behind the Baku Boulevard and its connection to the Oil Barons. The Fire Temple is located in the southeastern part of the Surakhani settlement of the Absheron Peninsula, 30 km from Baku.

Yanardag State Historical, Cultural and Natural Reserve - Known as Fire Mountain, this natural burning flame is the result of natural gas emerging at the foot of the hill. The hill has been burning continuously for approximately 4 millennia, even during rain and snow.

Gabala Tour

Diri Baba Mausoleum - The mausoleum has been described in the diaries of K. de Bryuin and A. Oleariy, as well as in a work by B. Dorn. It stands in a square located on a glyptic cliff. The building is two-storied. The first story has a hall covered with an ogive, which has a passageway to an octahedral cupola from a small vestibule. Stairs leading to the hall of the second story have been carved into the cliff. A spherical cupola with a pointed top has squinches decorated with plant ornaments.

Juma Mosque - The construction of the mosque dates back to the governance period of the Caliphate’s vicar in the Caucasus and Dagestan, Arabic commander Maslam ibn Abd-al Melik, brother of Umayyad caliph Valil I (705-715), who chose Shamakhi as his residence. During these years, Arab governors, strengthening the towers of this ancient city with rich cultural heritage, began constructing new structures. The great architectural appearance of Juma Mosque reflects the importance Arabs attached to Shamakhi.

Nohur Lake - Guests will visit the fascinating Nohur Lake near the village of Nohurqishlag. The quiet atmosphere and bird sounds create an ideal environment for relaxation.

Yeddi Gozel Waterfall - The tour continues to the “Eddi Gozal Waterfall” (Seven Beautiful Waterfall) located in Vandam Village of Gabala.

Tufandag Mountain Resort - The tour proceeds to Tufandag Mountain Resort, located 4 km from Gabala City. Adventure lovers will have the chance to be amazed by the Cable Car in the resort.

Gobustan

Gobustan Rock Art - On the way to Gobustan, guests will see a jungle of oil rigs that provided the USSR with black gold for over 70 years. The first stop is the Gobustan Museum, which offers insights into the history of the area. The archaeological monument is located 56 km from Baku. Artifacts and rock carvings were discovered in 1939-1940. Researchers have recorded more than 3,500 human and animal paintings and various markings (petroglyphs) and identified 20 suburban shelters in this area. Mesolithic monuments (medieval stone) are mostly exhibited in the reserve. There are many caves and springs carved by primitive men on the walls of caves, rocks, and stony lumps.

Bibi-Heybat Mosque - The Bibi-Heybat Mosque includes the tomb of Ukeyma Khanum (a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad) and is a spiritual center for Muslims in the region and one of the major monuments of Islamic architecture in Azerbaijan. Locally known as “the mosque of Fatima,” Alexandre Dumas described the mosque during his visit in the 1840s. The old mosque was located in the southern part of the tomb, with a 20-meter high minaret in the west part. Later, a crypt and two niches were added to the mosque south of the minaret. The niches contain inscriptions with the name Fatali Khan, whose tombstone marble slab is now in the State Museum of History.

Exceptional Tour Company! - Our 5-day tour in Azerbaijan was nothing short of magical, and it wouldn't have been possible without the outstanding tour company and their fantastic team - Faud, Sherif, and Naira! Right from the start, Faud impressed us with his top-notch planning skills. He effortlessly handled all our queries, and his quick responses made us feel well-prepared and excited for the trip. Faud's attention to detail and passion for what he does set the tone for an incredible journey. Sherif, our remarkable driver! He was like a superhero on wheels, ensuring we never had to walk more than a step. Every time we stopped, Sherif brought the car right to us, making travel effortless and stress-free. But that's not all - when my shoes got caked in mud at the mud volcanoes, Sherif came to the rescue with a cloth and water to clean them! His thoughtful and caring nature truly made a difference, and we couldn't have asked for a better chauffeur. And then there's Naira - our vibrant and knowledgeable guide. She was the life of the tour, making every moment filled with excitement and laughter. Naira's passion for her country shone through as she shared captivating stories about Azerbaijan's history, culture, and traditions. Her open-mindedness and helpfulness were invaluable, allowing us to experience the country like locals while still benefiting from her expert guidance. Together, Faud, Sherif, and Naira formed an unbeatable trio that made our journey truly unforgettable. Their warmth and friendliness made us feel more like old friends exploring a new place than just tourists. Throughout the trip, we got a real sense of the heart and soul of Azerbaijan, and it's all thanks to this incredible team. The most perfect tour I ever had - Baku City was a wonderful step for me, it just became part of home with Elnara as experienced and professional tour guide, from the old Baku mosques like Pi Pi Hibbato and Friday prayer mosque, the tower of Baku and the Hamam. Modern history couldn't hide the beauty of sunset every day and the kindness of Azerbaijan people. Still night life experience was the best. I for sure recommend visiting Baku with Elnara as a tour guide and maybe next time I will go to Sina for a hike and enjoy the natural water falls.

My Friendly Guide - I contacted Guided Azerbaijan (GA) before leaving from India. Located them on Internet. Was in touch with there executive Ms. Lamia. I wanted private taxi to pick me up from Baku Airport. Drive to Gabala stay for two nights then drive back to Baku and stay for four nights with all site seeing and shopping etc. with guide. Had number of changes in the program to suit my requirements. Lamia was very prompt in responding and making changes. I even talked to her over telephone. She was very pleasant and provided all relevant information. GA did not ask for any advance, the car and guide were at the airport as we arrived in Baku. We went straight to Gabala used the car for four days. On the fourth day Lamia and her colleague Fouad came to see us in the hotel, that is when we made the payment. We requested for some adjustments in the middle of itinerary and they gladly agreed to same. They were very professional and polite. I wish them all success and would recommend them to all my friends planning to go to Azerbaijan.
