Highlights
  • Castelo dos Mouros - Stunning views and great historic facts around the walls and underground. The Moorish Castle is the name given to a medieval fortification in Gibraltar comprising various buildings, gates, and fortified walls, with the dominant features being the Tower of Homage and the Gate House. Part of the castle itself also housed the prison of Gibraltar until it was relocated in 2010.[1] The Tower of Homage is clearly visible to all visitors to Gibraltar; not only because of its striking construction, but also because of its dominant and strategic position.

Excellent- best attraction in sintra - Great place. Nice Castle, great views over sintra including best views of pena palace & national palace. Very reasonable entry fees. The best attraction we saw in Sintra (went to pena palace gardens & quinta da regaleira too). Excellent views, not insanely busy (was 3pm though). Easily walkable from town centre via nice forest path (we walked town to quinta da regaleira to pena palace to moorish Castle to town - took about 2hrs walking total but split up) Worth the visit

Physically challenging but so BEAUTIFUL! - Lots and lots of uphill and stair climbing but the view is SO worth it. Also having tickets before hand made it quick and easy to enter.

Amazing Views - Unbelievable looking castle with amazing views. Well worth the effort and money to go. Skip the queue tickets got us around the long line and straight in to enjoy the attraction. If driving to Sintra, park at the train station and catch the bus up to Moorish Castle

Breathtaking - The Moorish castle was breathtaking. The instructions and transfer to get up to the site was rather confusing. We ended up overspending for the Hop on Hop Off bus and the transfer for the Peña Park. I don’t know if Viator could help with providing written instructions in the future for a less stressful experience. Thank you for asking

Skip the line - Skip the line ticket completely useless for this activity which is a walk in the forest, very good, but the line cutter is a catch

Very poor booking experience - We went to the castle on a rainy day when there was no view but our party of 7 still had fun. We found we had not needed to pay extra for skip the line as at 9.30am we were the only visitors. Our main complaint concerns the booking process which took place several weeks weeks before we left. Tripadviser handed it to Viator who then handed it to another provider who kept sending a PDF which clearly stated IT WAS NOT A TICKET. Despite frequent chasing the tickets finally arrived at 10.30pm the night before which was very stressful and also annoying. I see from the forums this is not uncommon and I will not be booking trips through Tripadviser again.

Never book in bad weather - It's not worth it in fog. It doesn't have that many people but you visit the castle mainly because of the view. So only book when you are sure that the weather is good.

not worth it, especially on a cloudy day - we went on a cloudy day, cannot see anything. The castle itself is very small, like a miniature Great wall. If you have been to Grat wall or plan to go, do not come here. not worth 12 euro at all.

We requested refund from the Tour Operator who was unprofessional and told me he would not provide a refund, as he eventually provided some tickets, even though they were not for the time we purchased.
