Challenging hike in Paradise - Our tour guide and driver were outstanding - made us feel very welcome. The hike was very difficult but exhilarating. Not for the faint of heart.

Amazing! - The ride around the island was very exciting and beautiful. Seeing the school children gathering for the day and adults working around the island was interesting. The roads are very uneven so expect a bumpy but exhilarating ride! We saw chickens, cows, goats, a few dogs and a cat. We loved seeing chickens and goats everywhere! The volcano hike- wow! If you like to hike or just take in the beauty of nature this is great. It was a very strenuous hike. I mean climbing tree roots and loose rocks. You must take a hands free water (we used camelbacks) or a light small backpack. Bring a snack like granola bar or fruit. Do expect to get dirty. Don't expect to have it easy. There are spiders and mud but they are harmless spiders. We saw a monkey too!! Listening to the birds was awesome. Our guide told us what all the birds sounds were. The views at the top are amazing and makes it all worth it. Your guide will stop anytime you need. You may spend about 20minutes just sitting at the top and taking it all in and resting. Don't do this hike if you have any medical condition that will not be forgiving. My knee never likes a downhill hike so, Damien, our guide found me a perfect stick and we went slow all the way down and my knees were ok! He talked to us about the trees and the culture. It was very quaint and relaxing even though we were sweating and working so hard. We called our guide Damien, the mountain goat, because his shoes were flat and he hopped and jumped around that mountain like a pro! Damien also told us all about the island history and pointed out the landmarks along the ride back. Super awesome!! My husband and I love loved this trip!! And the Volcano Bar at the bottom of the hike was a nice surprise awaiting us. They had local made drinks and beers for $2! Also, the raisin bread we were given was soo good! Our guide encouraged us to come back to the island and he would take us around the entire thing and show us everything we didn't see next time! We are definitely putting that on our list!

A true test of your endurance and fitness level - Great test of your endurance tour. If you aren't in excellent physical condition you won't make it to the top. You can still go but you'll stop halfway and either wait for the group to go up and come back down or you can turn around. Note there is still stuff to see so not all is lost. Regarding the tour. Adrian was our guide and a ball of energy with great stories and knowledge. But he does keep a good pace so you'll need to keep up. The only complaint was the actual time spent at the top (about 5 minutes) then you head back down another 2 plus hours. But I get it, they have to get people back to the cruise ships by a certain time. If you have some extra time on the island and want to test yourself I would recommend. Note, they sell beer at the end of the hike if you want to celebrate your accomplishment after.

NOT a Walk in the Park! - To start with I have to say that Captain Sunshine Tours delivered on their promises and Damien was the best guide you could ever want, helpful, knowledgeable, skilled and entertaining. The hike is not a hike - it is a mountain and rock climb, a real killer for anyone not in top physical condition. My husband and I are in our mid sixties and walk a lot at home so we managed to finish it but were sore for days after. What were we thinking?!! In addition, there is a real possibility of injury and no aid in sight. The view is of a jungle filled crater through a small gap in the trees so unless you want to physically challenge yourself and are confident of your abilities - don't consider this. The view is not worth the effort. Any satisfaction comes from arriving safe and sound back at the starting point.

Good workout, some rock & vine scrambling. - This is a serious hike, due to the elevation. I avg 5-6 miles a week at home & this still had my heart pumping. Passed 3 people on the way up. Not for beginners, you must be in decent shape for this & bring lotsa water. That being said, it's very doable, I hiked w/a mother & daughter & Canadian couple who all made it. Mr.Damion our guide was patient & very competent helping us ascend & descend the volcano & answer any questions we had. However he "forgot" our snacks, so be sure to check w/your guide about that, b4 you start this hike.

Harder than descibed! - This was one of the most difficult hiking tours I’ve ever had to do. The description should have called it a black diamond hike. And it says we get a picnic lunch, well we only got a ½ a glass of juice and a small muffin! This hike is not for the un experienced hiker!!!

Disappointed - There were 9 in the group of varying abilities from athletic twentysomethings to me portly and in my mid fifities. It was soon clear that I would be delaying the group so I let them go on ahead and I only got half way up the volcano when it was time to come down. Had I had enough time I would have been able to reach the summit and so I was disappointed that the group was quite large with varying abilities. I would suggest you only go for this if you are in your 20s and fit.

when we looked into this tour the... -
when we looked into this tour the person we booked it with called the Capt. Sunshine tour to make sure we had enough time it was a 6 hour tour. We were on Land for 9 hours. Our cruise ship run into bad weather and we were one hour late. Got there at the meeting place at 9:30 am. I had called previously from the ship early in the morning to the company and told them that we would be a bit late. They said just come to the Casino, we will be there. When we got there we were told the group left at 8:15 and they did not have another guide to take us up the mountain. My children and I were very upset because now there was no way to plan another tour. We had the choice to go with the Cruise line tour but choose this one instead. Big mistake. Big 200.00 mistake. They did not care. They could have driven us to catch up with the group, but not enough people to help them with the customers. I don't understand why they agreed to this knowing the boat would not dock until 9am anyways so why leave even earlier. They had no intention to wait for us. One of The guys told us they like it when they have no cruise passengers, because it crunches their time since the ships leave at 6 pm.
