Highlights
 • Thonburi - The tour begins in Thonburi, a district on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, where you’ll witness a harmonious blend of old and new. Skyscrapers stand tall alongside ancient temples, creating a picturesque panorama that encapsulates Bangkok’s diverse architecture.
 • Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen - Embark on a tranquil canal journey to reach the revered Wat Paknam, an eminent Buddhist temple in Phasi Charoen, Bangkok. As you approach by boat, the temple’s striking traditional architecture emerges, inviting you to explore its hallowed grounds. Within this spiritual haven, discover the teachings and legacy of Luang Por Sodh Candasaro, a revered meditation master, and delve into the cultural tapestry woven by the temple’s serene surroundings and the insightful displays at the Luang Por Sodh Dhamma Museum. Wat Paknam stands not only as a place of worship but as a serene refuge for those seeking spiritual enrichment and a deeper understanding of Thai Buddhism.
 • Temple Of Dawn (Wat Arun) - Wat Arun located on the Thonburi west bank of the Chao Phraya River. The temple derives its name from the Hindu god Aruna, often personified as the radiations of the rising sun. Wat Arun is among the best known of Thailand’s landmarks. The first light of the morning reflects off the surface of the temple with pearly iridescence.Although the temple had existed since at least the seventeenth century, its distinctive prang (spires) were built in the early nineteenth century during the reign of King Rama II.

The tour of the Royal Barges was really brought to life as the guide had once been a rower in the Royal Barge procession. The temple was even more interesting as a service was taking place.

I would be doing my fellow travellers a disservice if I did not inform you of our disappointment in this experience for which we paid USD 60 each!

Between 8am and 9am we had to make several phone calls to advise this company that there was no representative waiting to meet our party. The long-tail boat ride was a slow journey through just one klong, with nothing much of interest to recommend it. We were then taken to a Temple which - being under renovation, we decided it was not worth the difficulty in getting out of the long-tail boat in rough water conditions to view. We then proceeded to the Royal Barge Museum. We wandered around ourselves as there was very little commentary from the guide. At no time was water or any other refreshment offered to us.

The whole tour was one and a half hours shorter than expected. Despite complaints the only recompense offered was a free airport transfer to Don Muang.

Avoid!
