Absolutely AMAZING - This was AMAZING. It’s longer than Milford sound because it requires another 20 minute bus, a boat, and then yet ANOTHER bus, the area is so remote. But it’s GORGEOUS. So gorgeous. Like nothing you’ve ever seen. It’s so quiet all you hear is the engine humming along. It feels like uncharted territory. Absolutely beautiful and a MUST. Also, because this company is the only one with permits for Doubtful sound from the government, you’ll be the only boat there, and there are not a ton of people on the boat either.

Lovely trip - Right from the pick up to drop everything was well organized on this trip. Our guide was Chao, he was friendly, helpful and informative. I loved the Doubtful Sound cruise and our captain was knowledgeable. The crew was helpful and I loved the food options. After navigating around the beautiful Fjords, sailing close to the rough Tasman Sea was the highlight of this trip. I had a memorable day and I highly recommend this tour with RealNZ.

Fantastic Doubtful Sound Cruise with a Great Guide - We took the full-day coach-boat-coach-boat cruise to Doubtful Sound, and it was an unforgettable experience. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, and the boat rides offered fantastic views of this pristine wilderness. The highlight was a delicious cheese platter for lunch—perfect for recharging during the day. A special shout-out to Dan, our tour guide. He was fantastic—knowledgeable, personable, and truly made the trip memorable. He really knows how to keep the energy up throughout the long day. Speaking of which, be prepared for a full 13-hour day—it's a long haul, but totally worth it. One thing to note: with multiple guides throughout the journey, some commentary can feel a bit repetitive at times. However, this doesn't take away from the overall experience. Highly recommend this tour if you're looking to explore one of New Zealand’s most stunning locations!

Long, but amazing day worth doing - Tour was amazing and great to have 3 hours in the sound. Its a long day but worth it from Queenstown. The cheese platter was nice but i would skip the pre purchase lunch next time and buy food on board or byo. Very friendly staff and Danny was excellent on the drive to and back - great stories with energy.

This Tour is a Winner!! - We booked this tour the night before noting that it was pricey and a long day but did not want to rent a car and drive. We are so glad -it was worth every penny!! We did accidently get on the Milford Tour bus but was quickly sorted out. Blake ,the World's Best Driver, was right there on time to get us on the right bus. He escorted us from the hotel to bus to boat to bus to cruise and back to the hotel with no glitches. The commentary was informative and fun! We pre-ordered the lunches which was ample food and easy to eat on the boat. There was food for purchase on the boat but the lunches were better options IMHO. The bus and boats had room to move around inside and out with room for lots of pictures. The waterfalls were fantastic! The views amazing! I would highly recommend this tour to see Doubtful Sound. Hopefully you get Blake -the world's best bus driver!!

Fiordland tour - The physical geography of the Fiordland is picturesque, and this guided tour provides one of the few ways that you can see this part of New Zealand. The Manapouri Ferry and Doubtful Sound Catamaran have great viewing from the top deck, side decks or even from the inside when it was too rainy and windy for comfort outside. Video monitors inside show a real time map of the route, supplemented by the tour guide/naturalist on board who talks about the sites and regions, projecting over loudspeakers that are clear and easy to hear. On Doubtful Sound you travel all through the areas and up to the edge of the Tasmanian Sea. Here the water was rougher, but the vastness of the sea impactful. My favorite part was on the way back when we went into Crooked Arm – the water (and weather) was calmer and the area more serene. The greenery of the mountains and their waterfalls were beautiful. I booked the trip, although expensive, after reading other Viator reviews. Reviewers noted that yes, the trip is long but that on the bus ride the driver talks about the local landscapes and shares information about the region. Our driver did not do this, which was disappointing. The bus rides were only transportation to get to/from the tour, but not part of it. On the water ways the guides were engaging, and I learned about the region. Bus: Queenstown – Manapouri Ferry ~2 hours Boat: Manapouri Ferry – West Arm Visitor Centre ~50 min Bus: West Arm Visitor Centre – Doubtful Sound Catamaran ~40 min Boat: Doubtful Sound round-trip tour ~3 hrs Reverse back to return to Queenstown by ~8pm

Totally recommended to try this experience - Great experience. As there was a large crowd on the day, I felt enough time should have been given at West Arm visitor Center and Manapouri, for toilet breaks. Also we forgot a backpack at the visitor Center at Queenstown and there was no way to contact the team there. A direct phone number will be really appreciated. Thank you for this amazing experience.

Stunning scenery - Stunning scenery in the sounds and the highlight was stopping to experience the ‘sound of silence’. We went on a lovely sunny day which meant there were not many waterfalls. Very slickly organised trip with all the various modes of transport. Note if traveling from Queenstown it is a 12 hour return trip.

Gorgeous but too long - - Met downtown QT. Took a long but beautiful 2 hour bus-without the coffees we just purchased- they weren’t allowed. We should have waited Then onto a 45 min boat-snacks onboard if you want Then another 1 hour bus to the boat for our 3 hour tour We had perfect weather and it was absolutely gorgeous I wish we would have tried the Milford sound as well to be able to compare them It was a really nice time but it was a lot of travel to get there
