Nice caribbean get away! - The accommodations were beautiful and exotic. There was lots of wildlife on the property; monkeys, iguanas, frogs , birds, and more crabs than you could count . The rooms were simple but beautifully decorated. We slept peacefully to the sounds of rain, birds, and frogs. Our evenings were spent in the pool enjoying the antics of the resident spider monkeys. We took a guided boat tour with our expert Fernando, where we encountered a variety of wildlife.

A wonderful nature filled river adventure - Wonderful river adventure. Loved seeing the wildlife and the highly informative guides who could spot the tiniest spec of a creature! We paid for the optional turtle nesting trip at night and it was so worth it - what an incredible sight seeing the green turtle! The food was good and they were so well organised, going out of their way to accommodate us when we arrived a day late due to flights chaos. Thank you - such a memorable adventure.

Fantastic experience! - Our guide, Fila, was fantastic! He explained many details about the wildlife and spotted so many birds and animals. He took a lot of time explaining everything about Tortuguero. He also organized all the people and activities very well. The hotel staff were great and the food was healthy and outstanding!

Overall amazing - Great experience overall. The lodge was nice, even though the food was very limited and not Costa Rican, it was decent. I came there to see the nature and I saw it! Definitely go to a turtle trip.

Beautiful adventure - All-round carefree package: The journey itself is an adventure, you are always accompanied by guides who explain. Everything is very well organized. The accommodations vary, we stayed at Pachira Lodge and very satisfied! Nice large room with veranda surrounded by plants and much visited by animals. Delicious food, lots of wonderful activities on water and on land. Only the “Nature Walk” in the hotel’s own forest is not a real walk, rather a circular route, which you have run in 5 minutes on concrete trail. Tortuguero was a highlight of our trip, we would come back anytime, including at the Pachira Lodge.

Nice tour in national park - It was a well organized nice tour. Tortuguero was a remote place, not easy to get there by oneself. Thanks the tour company arranging everything. The national park was unique. We enjoyed very much riding the boat in the canal to tour the park. Our guide Fernando was enthusiastic about the environment and his work. He tried very hard to cope with the weather condition. The only down side was the lodge. I was not expecting anything luxury. But if there were a few more pieces of furniture like a table and chairs it would help a lot.

Pros and cons - Pros: The fact that this tour company actually got me there. It’s been a dream of mine to visit Tortuguero for many years. The lodge was lovely. The food was fresh and delicious overall. The scenery obviously extraordinary. Cons: Poor communication about where to meet, times to meet, money supposedly owed for tours already paid for. Nothing was posted with this critical info even on a blackboard or poster in the lodge reception area where all guests could see it and feel reassured. As a solo traveler I was charged as a party of two for everything, That was absolutely unfair. It was also awkward for me to be seated at every meal with a young romantic couple who clearly didn’t enjoy having me as a third wheel. I don’t blame them. I’m grateful this tour got me to Tortuguero but there was definitely room for improvement. PS There were a number of times guests had to carry their luggage up and down trails to get to their rooms or on and off boats at docks. That should be made clear in the promotional material. Anyone with knee, hip, or shoulder weakness needs to be prepared.

I wouldn't do it again - Very expensive, little seen, similar number of tourist boats, as in the Everglades, only more tropical. Long drive, food went like this.
