Highlights
  • Medina of Tunis - this sprawling labyrinth of ancient streets and alleys is one of the most impressive medieval medinas in North Africa and one of Tunisia’s great treasures. It’s home to numerous covered souks selling everything from shoes to shisha, as well as bustling cafes, alleyways full of artisans at work, and residential areas punctuated by large, brightly painted doorways. Historic palaces, hammams, mosques and madrassas (schools for the study of the Koran) are scattered throughout, many are richly decorated with tiles, carved stucco and marble columns.
  • La Goulette - this suburban district is renowned for the perpetual animation that reigns in its streets, all year round. The terraces of cafes and restaurants follow one another by the sea
  • Site Archeologique de Carthage - The archaeological site of Carthage is a site scattered in the current city of Carthage (Tunisia) and classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
  • Sidi Bou Said - With its distinctive blue and white colors, cobbled streets and breathtaking glimpses of azure waters, the cliff-top village of Sidi Bou Said is one of the most beautiful places in Tunisia.
Its distinctive architecture is a mix of Ottoman and Andalusian, the result of the influx of Spanish Muslims in the 16th century.

In cruise in the western Mediterranean the stop in Tunis could not go unnoticed - As mentioned being on a cruise you could not miss the opportunity to take a tour of Tunis and Carthage, both to see the beauties of this part of the Mediterranean but also to take a tour of the Medina with its markets but also of Carthage with its ruins

Such a patient and knowledgeable guide - Fahmi, our guide, had wonderful knowledge. He explained everything so well and gave us not just the historical information but also gave us some of the geo political influences of the time - all the way from 7th century BCE all the way to now. He answered questions - I do not know how he remembers all this stuff. He was so patient and so helpful. I also love the fact that he gave us time on our own as well and plenty of time along the route for photos. Also loved that he pointed out important or interesting things to photo. We must have made his life difficult with all the stopping for photos. He was wonderful.

July 27th 2024 - Ahmed, our host, & Said, our driver, were great hosts on the private day tour! They showed up on time and were ready to go with an engaging tour and we went to all locations, no problem! Ahmed knowledge and insight was a plus and we got to do things the larger tour groups did not. Great tour, highly recommend!

Excellent experience in Tunis with a friendly and experienced guide. - Our tour was amazing. Our guide, Beligh, was knowledgeable, friendly and tailored the tour to our preferences. He provided a very detailed history of the historic sights and the timeline surrounding them. Lunch was provided and was very good. Beligh and our driver for the day picked us up from the cruise port and made sure we were back before our ships departure. I recommend booking this tour and our guide!

Superb family day with Rafik - Our guide Rafik was amazing and our driver Mohammad made everything go smoothly! We are a family of 5 (3 teenagers) and Rafik kept us all interested and entertained. The history of and Rafik’s depth of knowledge were astounding! His ability to speak 5 languages (and English superbly) made our day go incredibly smoothly. There were times that local vendors were upset with Rafik, but he was able to explain to them that we were not interested and helped us move on (street vendors can be extremely aggressive). It was a SUPER hot day (105’ F) and Mohammed always kept out van accessible and cool. Several times Rafik purchased waters for our family, too! The lunch was delicious! Highly highly recommend!! Our family looks forward to returning and finding Rafik on his olive farm for another tour😜

Fascinating Tunis ! But not a private tour. - This tour was very informative - it was great to see the Medina of Tunis including the market, historical buildings, streets and learn of its history. Carthage was fascinating and Sidi Bousaid was beautiful. People were friendly. When we disembarked our ship, the representative of the tour company was there and pointed us to our vehicle. I had advised the company we were on a ship and needed a pickup at the pier and not a hotel and that was not a problem. Our guide Maher provided us abundant information and was very kind as well. A note - this is advertised as a Private Tour and it was not. Two other very pleasant people were also booked on this tour with us in our van. When asked, our guide said the tour company owner must have combined the 2 private tours ( he couldn’t confirm why this happened) which was done without any notice to us. We received no compensation for this change. The lunch appetizers were good but the mains not so much. All in all I would do the tour again. I learned so much about the history and people of Tunis, but would have appreciated knowing we were not getting the private tour that was advertised.

The down side was that heat wave - Saw and learned so much. Great way to explore this amazing country. Recommend it for those with little time. Unfortunately it was a heat wave and 106 degree was the down side!
