As a seasoned traveler and surfer, I’ve always been drawn to the ocean’s rhythm, but this time, I found myself inland, in the lush landscapes of Turrialba, Costa Rica. My wife and I decided to take a break from the waves and explore the art of coffee production at the Aquiares Coffee Tour. We arrived two hours early, a rare occurrence for us, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Our guide, a friendly and knowledgeable local, invited us to the Aquiares Hacienda to relax and enjoy some freshly brewed coffee. The hospitality was as warm as the coffee, and we felt right at home.

The hacienda itself was a sight to behold, nestled amidst verdant hills and coffee plantations. As we sipped our coffee, I couldn’t help but appreciate the tranquility of the place. The highlight of the tour was the visit to the beneficio, where we witnessed the entire coffee production process. The guide explained the nuances of each process, from fermentation to roasting, and answered all our questions with patience and enthusiasm. It was fascinating to see the blend of tradition and innovation that defines Aquiares coffee.

What was supposed to be a two-hour tour stretched to nearly three, but we didn’t mind. The experience was so engaging and informative that time seemed to fly by.
