Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Evening Game Drive.
Queen Elizabeth National Park - Begin your day with a morning meeting and briefing, including personal introductions from the Rumara Safaris guide. Then, embark on your journey westward across the country. A stop at Uganda’s Equator offers a unique chance to stand in both the northern and southern hemispheres simultaneously and capture stunning photographs.
You’ll also have the opportunity to witness demonstrations showing how water flows differently at the Equator, just a few degrees north and south. Continue your journey and pause for lunch at the Igongo Cultural Centre, where you can also explore a museum showcasing traditional artifacts from local communities. Proceed through the Ankole farmlands to reach Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Katungulu gate. The descent into the park reveals its breathtaking landscape, adorned with trees, crater lakes, and Lakes George and Edward. Enjoy an introductory game drive before concluding your day at your lodge.
The Kazinga Channel Experience.
Kazinga Channel - Awaken to the sounds of nature and set off on a sunrise game drive. The expansive savannah plains, swamps, and forests of Queen Elizabeth are home to approximately 95 mammal species and over 600 bird species. Keep an eye out for lions, leopards, elephants, warthogs, bushbucks, Cape buffaloes, and waterbucks, among others. A network of trails will be used to access animal habitats, maximizing your opportunities to observe and experience the wonders of nature.
After lunch, transfer to the pier/dock to embark on an afternoon boat ride on the Kazinga Channel. This waterway connects Lakes George and Edward and serves as a habitat for Nile crocodiles, possibly the largest herds of hippos on Earth, and a variety of bird species including egrets, Goliath herons, saddle-billed storks, African fish eagles, Egyptian geese, and cormorants. The channel also provides water for elephants, buffaloes, and many other bird species.
Day Three: Chimpanzee Tracking – Return to Kampala
Kyambura Game Reserve (Kyambura Gorge) - Witness the sunrise illuminating the plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park, enjoy an early breakfast, and check out. Join your driver/guide for a transfer to Kyambura Gorge to participate in a chimpanzee tracking activity. The name Kyambura means “I searched and failed to find,” as the indigenous people could not locate the source of the water flowing through the gorge. Chimpanzees, our closest relatives, inhabit the dense forest along the gorge’s banks. Tracking them involves descending and ascending the gorge’s banks. Besides chimpanzees, Kyambura Gorge is a haven for greater and lesser flamingos and the great egret. Return to the staging area to meet your driver and exit through the Kabatooro gate. Continue to Fort Portal town (the only town with an English name) for a lunch break. Enjoy a leisurely, scenic drive over hills, through valleys, tea plantations, and trading centers back to Kampala. Conclude your journey with a drop-off at Entebbe airport for your flight.
