Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Guests will be picked up at Kigali Airport or downtown Kigali and transported to Bwindi National Park. The picturesque 4-5-hour journey to Uganda passes through Rwanda’s northern town of Ruhengeri, crossing into Uganda via the Cyanika or Katuna border post. The trip continues through the nearby towns of Kisoro or Kabale, leading finally to Bwindi National Park. Arriving in the early afternoon allows for optional activities such as hiking, canoeing, or visiting the local community.
Gorilla Trekking at Bwindi National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Today is an extraordinary day! Experience the renowned gorilla safari Uganda is celebrated for. After breakfast, guests will head to Bwindi National Park for a briefing on the gorilla trek. The session will cover what to expect during the trek and how to safely approach the animals. A national park guide will assign each visitor a gorilla family to track, marking the start of the adventure. Depending on the gorillas’ location within the forest, the trek can last from 3 to 8 hours, with an average duration of 3 to 5 hours. Journey through the lush vegetation to encounter these magnificent creatures, offering a truly unique experience. After the trek, guests will return to the lodge to relax, enjoy dinner, and have a restful night’s sleep.
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for Kazinga Channel Boat Trip
Queen Elizabeth National Park - The journey begins in the morning from the Bwindi National Park area, heading to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive follows the Kabale-Ishaka-Bushenyi Road, showcasing the breathtaking landscapes of southwestern Uganda and the region’s tea plantations. Upon arrival at Queen Elizabeth National Park, guests can join the Kazinga Channel boat trip to potentially see hippos and elephants.
Chimpanzee Trekking at Kalinzu Forest Reserve & Transfer to Kigali or Kampala/Entebbe
Kalinzu Central Forest Reserve - After breakfast, guests will travel to Kalinzu Forest to experience tracking chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Kalinzu Forest is a prime location for chimp trekking in Uganda, offering visitors more than a 50% chance of encountering these animals. With luck, the Kalinzu trek may also reveal one of the 6 different primate species residing in the area, including the colobus monkey, olive baboon, and red-tailed monkey. Following an exhilarating morning of wildlife encounters, the trip concludes with a transfer to Kigali or Kampala/Entebbe. The drive from Kalinzu Forest Reserve to Kigali or Entebbe/Kampala takes approximately 6-7 hours.
