Venice: Biennial Walking and strolling and especially no guided tour... - Rent a small apartment and take your time. A week is good enough but it is also short because there are places to discover, to explore and exhibitions-participations in this Biennale, apart from the Giardini and Arsenale. With the title and theme "Stranieri Ovunque - Foreigners everywhere", all the sestieri in Venice host participating national pavilions and collateral events all equally interesting. Then you have to walk and stroll scuola, chiesa, palazzo by rio , campo and vicolo + vaporetto... and especially no guided tour... Do not miss "Glasstress" in Venice and Murano (Berengo studio). This year (2024) there was a remarkable exhibition of the "stanze del vetro" at the F° Giorgio Cini on the creative work of master glassmakers... (island of San Giorgio Maggiore) . Also noteworthy are the participations on the island of Giudecca and the Vatican pavilion in the women's prison. There wasn't a lot of people in Venice at the end of August... but there was a crowd at the Lido for the Mostra d'arte cinematografica. A week is very short - even when you know Venice well -
