Great boat tour from Svolvaer! - This was a lovely cruise, comfortable and with very nice views of the landscape and fjord. The ship was not too big, and not too crowded, and had nice drinks and snacks on board. We alternated walking around for different views and sitting at the windows. Boat had seating options outside and inside which was good for the iffy weather we had. Recommend this tour!

Great experience -- adding a few hints on practicalities - This was great. A few practicalities for parking for this and overall visiting Lofoten: ... things I'd like to have known before having to figure them out, so I will pass along: - Bring a hat! The sun is relatively low in the sky and if you are out hiking or just walking around and have a sunny day, you'll want a hat. - Remarkably no need for cash. Used a credit card for purchases large and small. One exception is the parking for hikes sometimes requires payment (we encountered this once ... used US dollars and did not get a ticket). - Grocery stores are all over; even Joker meets most daily needs. We thought the best was Rema 1000. - BUT: almost everything except restaurants and gas stations are closed on Sundays. The Rema 1000 in Leknes had a small section open; the Coop Prix in Reine was open noon to 6. - Parking in Reine is a challenge. One option is the visitor center; go to the lot below it with entrance down the hill. Pay at the visitors center. Or park at what is the actual ferry terminal at northeast end of town. Drive in and park; cameras capture your license plate. When you are ready to leave, pay at the kiosks. - Also helpful to have EasyPass app to pay for parking. You can walk anywhere in Svolvaer including ferries and Trollfjord cruise from lots on the south end of town. - For the ferry to Vinstad, you can buy online in advance or at the gate to the ferry. We got there a half hour early for the 3 pm ferry and were fine, but the visitors center says get in line two hours early..... There is no ticket booth. - We rented from Rent a Car Lofoten and they were cheaper and terrific. They will leave a car at the airport for your arrival, very conveniently. (If you call and they don't answer the phone, just call again later. It's a father/son enterprise.) - I was leery of arriving at 6 pm in Svolvaer after a redeye from the U.S. and driving to Reine so got a one-night place to stay in Svolvaer. This depends on the person, but be aware that the E10 (main) road is 16 feet wide. It's a bit of a sqeeze when passing the numerous camper vans not to mention buses and semis. The speed limits are 50-70 kph (and are obeyed) so you are not going all that fast, but with no centerline it takes some getting used to. I did not find this the easy, relaxing driving that I would expect from U.S. experience, especially at first, and so was glad to do the drive in the morning. (Also, I had a manual transmission, which I enjoy but takes some getting used to figuring out the gear on the always-changing grades and curves.) - also note that there is much less traffic in the morning than midday and later, especially north of Reine. (South of Reine is trafficked all day.) If I went back I'd do longer drives first thing.

What a treat! - This cruise was fantastic and one of the best attractions in Lofoten. It took us all the way from Svolvear to Trollfjord and it was so worth the money. The whole journey took more than 3 hours and the views were amazing. During the journey we could spot the eagles and the underwater drone showed us the bottom of the sea with detailed explanation from the crew. The ship has a bar and you can buy some snacks there but for us the main treat was to sit outside and enjoy the amazing views. It was so easy to move around the boat to get the panoramic views. Highly recommend!
