Invite you to journey through the historic Whitney Plantation in Louisiana! This 5-hour excursion leads you across one of the oldest plantations in the state, shedding light on the experiences of enslaved people and the challenges they encountered.
This instructional journey will leave a lasting impression on you for years ahead. Listen to the personal tales of people who resided and labored on the plantation, allowing you a comprehensive view into this essential aspect of American history. While exploring the premises, you will glean understanding into the everyday life of slaves during that time – their work, their sufferings, and their aspirations for freedom – as well as the current efforts by specialists to safeguard these stories for eternity.
Be aware: this tour does not include a guided walkthrough of the Whitney plantation. The Whitney Plantation provides an MP3 player to all visitors so they can meander through the plantation and assimilate the history of the plantation at their leisure and pace.
- Pick-up starts at 12:30 pm, so please allow 30 minutes for arrival.
