Whitney plantation tour - This was a very cool experience! Very interesting to learn all about the plantation and walk around. I would recommend the guided tour instead of the audio.

Whitney plantation booked thru Cajun Encounters - The Whitney Plantation Tour is well presented and very informative. Unfortunately Cajun Encounters added nothing to the experience except the bus ride. The driver never said a word in either direction. She could have explained something along the way, commented on the lake, anything. Very disappointing. Those folks doing the guided tour get a better tour of the plantation as they are allowed upstairs in the big house and can take over the church so that anyone on an audio tour must wait to go in. Might just have been the driver we were stuck with. The lack of stars is for Cajun Encounters not the plantation. The swamp tour was much better

Thought provoking two hours - The minibus arrived on time but the driver gave minimal commentary along the way. The mini bus was sign written with “ghost tours” which cased some general confusion. Journey from French quarter was 1 hour 10minutes. The tour was self tour with handset and headphones which worked well. All very thought provoking. We stayed for 2 hours before returning. I think perhaps it would be better to do a trip offering 2 plantations as it seemed a waste to travel all that way to just see one.

Bad experience - Bad experience. Book the tour online: Whitney Tour. I paid for it and received a confirmation email At no time was I advised that the tour could not be carried out and after waiting at the place where they supposedly had to pick me up, a company driver, in a very bad way, indicated that the tour that day would not take place. I also received a cancellation email at the same time the tour should have departed. I called the offices and they told me that at some point they would refund my payment, which certainly hasn’t happened yet.

Terrible - They cancelled the tour with only an hour to go, with just a proforma email not explaining the circumstances, which were that there weren't enough people booked on for the tour to go ahead. They say they tried to call but we didn't get any call, and even if that's the case, why not follow up with a proper explanation email instead of just a standard cancellation notification that then caused us uncertainty, and cost us money in having to call them for an explanation? When I communicated my frustration about all this, they just said 'sorry you feel that way' in a tone that communicated anything but regret at spoiling our day. Then i find out that it'll take 8-10 days for the money to get back into my account! It's unforgivable to cancel at such late notice, taking away any opportunity we might have had to plan something else for our last day in New Orleans, and also taking away any opportunity we had to see the plantation at all, which had been a big part of why we came to NO in the first place. They ruined the end of what had been a lovely holiday. So don't leave anything to chance: book your plantation tour with another operator
