Great food tour - We had a great time with our guide Jim. We got to taste a lot of typical local food. It was a very nice walk in the hutongs and we didn't see many tourists there.

Delicious and interesting tour with Jim - The tour with Jim was excellent. I regularly take food tours in cities when I travel for work, and Jim’s knowledgeable approach and kind nature was perfect to introduce our group to foods in the hutong. If you have the opportunity to take this tour with Jim, I recommend!

Breakfast food tour - We did the morning food tour on a very cold morning in Beijing. Jim was our guide and was full of knowledge, humour and made the whole trip a breeze. We had an excellent time exploring hidden gems and trying some of the best breakfast foods we’ve ever had. Thanks Jim and LostPlate! Will definitely recommend to all those visiting Beijing.

Amazing! - The hutong walking food tour was a great way not only to explore the hutongs themselves but to immerse yourself in Chinese culture. We learned about the different kinds of traditional foods all the way from sweet to savory as well as tons of trivia and what daily life is like there from our tour guide, Jim. Jim was an excellent tour guide, he was very informative, courteous, accommodating, and friendly. We would converse about various topics on Chinese life and culture, most specifically how it was in Beijing, and he would always offer help without us even asking. Our tour guide also had good story telling capabilities, as with every word he spoke about the history and way of living in the places we walked to, we would always be so intrigued and interested in whatever he had to say. After our tour, Jim even helped us on how to get around to find other interesting places to tour around, showing that he truly knew the lay of the land and the interesting parts of the entire city. Overall, we truly enjoyed the time we spent on the tour as well as the food we ate, it will truly be a memory that we will treasure.

Excellent value! - You absolutely get your money's worth with this tour! Kelly and her guide-in-training Jim did a fantastic job taking us around Beijing, explaining the history of the city and taking us to some really local spots with food that we never would have otherwise tried. We were stuffed to the brim with wonderful local delicacies and we even got some recommendations on where to eat during the rest of our visit, which also did not disappoint! Thank you again Kelly and Jim!

Go hungry and pace yourself! - There were six food stops and a 7th coffee stop to wrap everything up. I have lived in Beijing for four years now and still experienced so many new foods and great historical information about the dishes and the Hutong we were walking through. Our guide Kelly was on time, super knowledgable, and helped us with pacing our appetites! I highly recommend this tour. We did it with two teenagers and three adults on a glorious 10 AQI day.

Highly recommend this food tour! - After 2 years of living in Beijing I signed up for this tour to do with 2 of my local friends and we had SUCH a great morning! Our guide, Kelly was incredible - she was friendly & professional and had SO much knowledge of local culture, history AND the food! My local friends learned new things & tried new restaurants/shops they’d never been to. I loved the selection/range of foods that we sampled - I wasn’t a ‘fan’ of all the dishes but I tried everything & discovered some delicious new dishes! The Hutong area that we toured was beautiful & full of history. Kelly spent some extra time with us making our experience above & beyond what we had expected. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone!
