Fantastic day on moors - Fantastic day out. Very well organised. Ben was a brilliant driver & tour guide full of information. Highly recommend. Loved Hemsley. Whitby fish & chips was the best ever. Met some lovely people on the tour too. Loved the steam train ride you are on it for about an hour, lovely countryside to be seen

Fabulous - I loved this tour. Our guide John kept us entertained all day with his amazing knowledge of history and local culture. I enjoyed every stop, the mosaics at Byland abbey, the walled garden at Helmsley, my first time on a steam train and not least Whitby, which lived up to expectations. A fantastic day out which was great value considering everything we did and our wonderful guide

Fantastic - What a great day. Our guide John was unbelievable. How he remembered all the history and entertained us all day I don’t know. We saw so many lovely places. My first time in a steam train. Whitby lived up to expectations. As a solo traveller it was wonderful to have 3 other solo women to share the day with. Great value. I highly recommend this tour

Great Tour, Great Guide - Having just spent several days self-driving it was nice to do a guided tour, sit back, relax and take in the views. Our driver Ben was great, full of information (and laughs!) and always took time to chat on the stops. The trains weren't running that day (but we knew that in advance), but this was supplemented with entry into Whitby Abbey (which is amazing). It also allowed time for Ben to take a few detours for some extra stops and photo's. The time spent in each stop was more than adequate. Overall, a great day for a Yorkshire overview and excellent value.

Magical! - John was a fantastic tour guide. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Timing very tight and would have like to spend more time in Heartbeat country but York traffic is brutal in town! Met lovely people and enjoyed each stop - fish & chips in Whitby at Hadley’s superb. Even with a disability managed the 199 steps at the Abbey. John threw in tidbits of knowledge that really added to the experience. Some type of ventilation on the bus would be good to help those with vulnerabilities. Seats have charging points so very useful for all the photos you will want to take on your phone! The train ride was magical. Can only highly recommend even as a solo traveller.

Great tour with a lot of historical information and lots to see - Though weather threatened, we got a solid tour of the Moors and Whitby thanks to John, our guide. His commentary on the history of the Moors and the places we visited entertaining and informative. And we were pleased that there were no real long stretches of driving on the way to the rail station where we caught our classic railway train for the ride to Whitby. The town of Whitby itself was very walkable and had many interesting things to see - in addition to the several good restaurants serving fish & chips. Even the longer ride back to York seemed shorter thanks to John’s stories and informative chat. A great investment of time and money, well worth it.

Foggy Day on the Moors - The stops at Byland Abbey and Whitby Abbey were, for me, the best parts of this tour. It was to foggy the day I took this tour to see anything of the moors. If there was something of beauty there, my group wasn’t able to see it. The steam train ride was, of course a step into the past but really just another train ride. If ruined abbeys are not your thing, look for other tours. It’s too bad that Viator doesn’t include Rievaux Abbey in the stop at Helmsley.

Lovely Scenery - The Abbey sites were beautiful, as was the countryside between stops. The steam engine ride was a fun experience as well.
