Divin (brandy) is a type of wine spirit made from local resources through a double distillation process, following traditional techniques. The distillates are left to mature for a minimum of three years in oak barrels. The term ‘Divin’, literally translates to ‘from wine’ in Romanian. It also holds the meaning ‘divine’, which symbolises the part of distillates that evaporates during production, often stated as ascending to the heavens as a sacrificial offering for acquiring quality. ‘Barza Alba’ (The White Stork) S.A, initiated in 1944 as a Wine and Brandy factory in Balti, is one of the prominent Divin manufacturers in Moldova. They offer guidance on distinguishing various aspects of beverages, like their types, aromas, shades, and flavours.
