Setting Sail to St. Pierre

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I boarded the elegant OPLEZIR catamaran, ready for a day of adventure on the Curieuse and St. Pierre Islands. The gentle sway of the boat and the salty breeze instantly reminded me of my days spent chasing waves across the Caribbean. As we set sail towards St. Pierre Island, I couldn’t help but feel a familiar thrill of anticipation. This uninhabited island, known for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life, was a snorkeler’s paradise.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the sight of shimmering fish darting beneath the surface. With my snorkel gear in hand, I plunged into the warm, inviting waters. The underwater world was a kaleidoscope of colors, with schools of fish weaving through the coral gardens. It was a mesmerizing experience, one that reminded me of the beauty and tranquility that the ocean offers. As I floated on the surface, I felt a deep connection to the sea, a feeling that has always fueled my passion for island life.

Exploring Curieuse Island

After a refreshing swim, we made our way to Curieuse Island, a sanctuary for flora and fauna. The island’s unique biodiversity was immediately apparent as we embarked on a guided nature trail tour. Walking through the lush mangrove swamps and over the rugged mountains, I was captivated by the island’s natural beauty. The highlight of the tour was undoubtedly the encounter with the giant land tortoises. These gentle giants, with their ancient, wise eyes, seemed to embody the timeless spirit of the island.

As we continued our trek, we came across the legendary coco de mer, the world’s largest nut, nestled among the endemic trees. The island’s rich ecosystem was a testament to the wonders of nature, and I felt privileged to witness it firsthand. The guided tour was both educational and inspiring, offering a glimpse into the delicate balance of life on this small island.

A Perfect Ending at Anse Georgette

With our exploration of Curieuse complete, we returned to the catamaran for a mouth-watering BBQ lunch. The aroma of grilled seafood filled the air as we cruised towards Anse Georgette, one of the most stunning beaches I’ve ever seen. The pristine white sands and turquoise waters were the perfect backdrop for a leisurely swim and a few snapshots to capture the moment.

As the day drew to a close, we embarked on a scenic cruise along the North East coast of Praslin Island. The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. It was a serene and fitting end to a day filled with adventure and discovery. As we made our way back to the hotel, I couldn’t help but reminisce about the wonders of the day and the flawless organization that made it all possible. This adventure was a reminder of why I love island life and the endless possibilities it offers for exploration and connection with nature.
