Malta tour in the wind - Excellent service. Buses on time. Joseph at Valletta Waterfront stop was very helpful and made sure we were on right bus to get back to hotel.

Great tour - Was sceptic about taking this tour after reading these reviews, but I suppose there are Victor Meldrews everywhere! We did the South and North Tours back to back, was lovely to see all the island, the bus was old, but that didn't matter, what mattered to us was the views! Also value for money.

it needs fundamental improvements - Like with many other, similar services in other cities, in Malta also, this is definitely a very good way to visit the place. In this instance, to visit not just a city, but literally the entire island; the whole country; in 2 days. However, compared to similar services which we have enjoyed in other cities (Albufeira, Athens, Munich, Zurich…), this one in Malta, needs some improvements… . The drivers are not… too bad; but they are certainly not as good as their colleagues in other cities; they need to have better manners, a better attitude; (this problem was not typical at all, by the way, it was surprising, because in our general experience in this regard, the population of Malta is very, very agreeable. ) . The state of the windows is unacceptable, for a sightseeing bus. They need to be seriously cleaned. Or if need be, replaced. And this problem is particularly annoying in winter, when sitting in the upper, open-air deck is not a good idea, re: the cold temperature and the brutal winds. Fix all this, please. It shouldn't be hard. Because, again, it is a good system for visitors. And Malta is a fantastic place, a wonderful country, with a very nice population. And it therefore deserves better, than such a flawed service of sightseeing.

On your own - It’s not clear where you can come off or on and not a lot of interaction with staff. You can see the place but the recording is not clear enough

Use public buses not worth your time or money - Afraid I’m joining the ranks of not worth the money. Our first bus of the day was hardly fit for purpose was so dilapidated and rickety. One scheduled stop was completely ignored. We had fancied spending 15 minutes at the Mdina glass factory stop but was told the bus was running late so no time. Yet next stop at the ‘Craft Village’ incorporated a five minute stop at some very dodgy jewellery shops for which we were presented a discount voucher. No other craft shops visible. We left the bus at Mdina which is probably the only stop worth going to on the entire tour. Joined the tour two hours later the seats in the top deck were sodden. So unless you fancied walking round rest of the day with wet trousers not usable. This driver then made a stop for a personal break for himself. The a second stop to collect some groceries for himself. The double decker bus went down some entirely inappropriate residential streets got stuck behind road sweepers, cement delivery trucks etc. a lot of the route was on open highways with little to see and no commentary. We only took the north route, primarily to see Mdina. For €25 it was definitely not worth the money. We could have taken public transport for €2 with more comfort and probably more timely. We thought we might learn some history of the Island and see some different places. Save your money and support local transport.

Broke down hop on/ hop off bus - I chose the south route which started off fine but after about an hour the bus had an engine problem and replacement bus was organised. Passengers were dropped off at S10 and were told we can continue on north route (bus was waiting) or wait 45 mins for the next bus to continue the south route. That was not a choice for many guests as travellers had made other arrangements for the day. Therefore a further bus arrived and took travellers back to their starting point. I never got to see the 2nd half of the tour.

Avoid avoid avoid. Complete waste of time and money - Avoid avoid avoid. Read the reviews - we travelled in low peak so not packed buses but what a complete waste of time and money. We do the open top bus everywhere we go and this is HANDS DOWN the absolute worst tour we have ever done. A few sentences every 10-15 minutes was the commentary. Malta is actually a very historical place with lots to learn. But this is a waste of time. Driving past historical locations and absolutely nothing coming through from the “tour” commentary. Buses also come and go at whatever time suits. And a 20 minute journey is easily 1 hour. Do not use this - honestly not worth it at all!!!!

Avoid this trip - Joined in Mellieha but didn’t realise that the 1.25 hours would be pick ups en route before the bus tour started. The sound system was poor with lots of interference which possibly didn’t matter as the commentary was very limited and gave little information about this fascinating island. A long, slow return journey meant we spent about 8 hours on the road for a 2.5 hours’ trip. Very disappointing and would not recommend.

The quintessential tourist trap - DO NOT waste your money on this! The buses are over-crowded and don’t run to schedule. And don’t imagine yourself sitting at the top of that bus with the wind in your hair, you’ve got a much better chance of standing downstairs. The commentary is a joke. Even when it was able to be heard it was virtually non-existent; for most of the journey there was nothing. My understanding might have been that, having paid €25, I would have been offered some historical and cultural information about Malta - we weren’t. The buses are not well-maintained: seats were damaged and many of the ports for the ‘commentary’ were not functioning. This is far too long a route to function as a Hop On-Hop Off bus. We got off at Marsaxlokk Fishing Village and had originally intended to get off again at Hagar Qim. However, when we were not in time for the 13.30 bus we realised we would not have time to catch the 14.30 bus, see the site and be confident of a trip back to Valletta; after our morning experience we were not sure we would get on a bus at all. Instead, download the app for the public bus system and do a bit of planning.
